Payment terms (Stripe)

Who you are paying, who processes the card, and who is paid the processing fee.

Card payments on Handywright are processed by Stripe. This page explains the roles for the customer paying and for the Business receiving the money.

1.The business is the seller

When you pay a quote deposit or an invoice, you are paying the Business named at the top of the page for its goods or services. The Business is the merchant of record and the seller. Questions about the work, the price, refunds and disputes go to the Business first; its phone number is on the page.

The Plain Works Co., Ltd. provides the software, is not a party to the sale and never holds your money: your payment goes straight to the Business’s own Stripe account.

2.Stripe and the Business’s own Stripe account

Each Business connects its own Stripe account and accepts the Stripe Services Agreement with Stripe. Customers pay the Business directly through that account. Stripe verifies the Business’s identity and pays out to its bank account. Stripe’s privacy policy covers the payment details you enter.

3.Fees

For the Business: Card and bank payments go to your own Stripe account at Stripe's published rate; Handywright adds nothing. Stripe’s published US rates (stripe.com/pricing) are 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment and 0.8% (max $5) per bank payment. Stripe charges them to the Business’s own Stripe account, not to the customer on top of the invoice. Handywright takes no fee on payments, is not the merchant of record and does not hold funds. Instant payouts, if the Business uses them, are a Stripe feature on its own account at Stripe’s price.

4.When a payment counts

A payment is marked paid only after Stripe confirms it to us. If a page says Processing, wait a moment and reload; you will get a receipt by email when it is confirmed. A failed card is not charged.

5.Refunds and disputes

Refunds are decided by the Business and sent back to the original card by Stripe. Card disputes (chargebacks) are handled between the Business, Stripe and your card issuer.

Under the Stripe Services Agreement, chargebacks, refunds, negative balances and Stripe’s fees on the Business’s payments are the Business’s responsibility, not ours. Payout timing and any reserve are set by Stripe. Businesses Stripe prohibits cannot use card payments; see Stripe’s prohibited and restricted businesses.
